Present a 3D view of virtual world
Used for:
Design reviews (focus mainly on "content")
Social chat (focus mainly on avatars)
Games
Events such as conferences, lectures, theatre, roll-playing etc.
Represent users using avatars
Users can navigate through the virtual world
Users can see each others avatars and communicate with each other
Users can (often) perform shared activities in the virtual world
Inter-user communication, shared avatar movement and world state changes are managed by communication between the clients and the server
