To create VRML models, you need at least a text editor, and a VRML
viewer for viewing the result.
Other useful tools include:
- A fast computer with a fast 3D graphics accelerator...
- A 3D modelling tool that can export VRML 97 files (e.g 3D Studio,
Lightwave, Inspire 3D, Strata3D, Spazz3D,...)
- Optimisation tools (e.g. Chisel)
- A digital camera for taking images that can be used to create
textures
- Image manipulation tools for working with textures (e.g.
Photoshop)
- GZip for compressing VRML files for more efficient delivery over
the Internet
- There is lots of information about VRML tools on the Web
- Terrain modelling tools
- Human modelling tools (e.g. Poser)
- Geometry conversion tools (e.g. to convert DXF files to VRML)
- Rendering tools, both for creating realistic still images and
for using creating more realistic pre-coloured interactive environments
(e.g. using LightScape)
