Geometry optimisation

  • Models created using a modelling package sometimes contain much more detail than is necessary, or possible, to render in real-time

  • Models usually need to be optimised to run efficiently on the target platform

  • Optimisation is best done with the aid of specialised software tools

  • Optimisation typically involves the removal of vertices and/or the merging of triangles
